PLUM GROVE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT
YOUR CALL FOR HELP IS OUR CALL TO DUTY
281-689-8775 OR FOR EMERGENCY CALL 911
Prior to 1978 the City  of  Plum Grove, Texas was at the mercy of
neighboring Fire Departments, friends , family and passer bys in the
event of a fire.  We did at that time, have a Forestry Truck and Dozer
to help protect the woods from fires. But nothing to  really protect the
residents of Plum Grove.

In May 24, 1978 the Cleveland Journal, the news paper at the time,
published  this article.
Plum Grove seeks fire protection
A group of concerned citizens in Plum Grove are seeking support for
a Volunteer Fire Department.  The Mayor and City Council are
backing its formation and according to spokeswoman Aline Lilley fire
insurance rates will be reduced approximately 20% with the
formation of the Fire Department. Donations are now being accepted
at Sallas Grocery and Plum Grove Grocery with all funds in a
separate account. If the Fire Department is not in operation within
one year all monies will be refunded, stated Mrs. Lilley. For further
information interested persons may contact Mrs. Lilley at 689-XXXX
or 689-XXXX.
Also Kenneth Shilling will be on hand at the regular meeting of the
Plum Grove City Council Tuesday, June 13 at 7 p.m.  to answer
questions and to brief citizens on purchasing equipment and
organizing the department.

in January 17, 1979 the Cleveland Advocate publish this article.
ON THE WAY
Plum Grove is in the process of organizing a volunteer fire

above. The gleaming new unit was rolled out for inspection officially
Sunday afternoon. Left to right are Mayor Ken Shilling and
councilmen William Hibbard, Jimmy Rollins, Thomas Sallas and Jake
Moon. The unit was secured through cooperation of the Texas Forest
Service. Plum Grove donations raised the $3,500  for the equipment.
Now they need volunteer fireman.
